Optum is hiring a Software Engineer to help build modern CI/CD platforms and automation on public cloud. If you enjoy cloud, DevOps, and AI-assisted development, this role is a great fit.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build and manage GitHub Runners in public cloud; develop automation to streamline workflows.
  • Own well-documented, scalable, reusable CI/CD pipelines following best practices.
  • Lead Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives using GitHub-native tools to reduce manual work.
  • Use AI-assisted development to speed up coding, testing, and documentation.
  • Prototype with LLM tools, agent frameworks, RAG, vector DBs, and MCP.
  • Create and maintain docs for workflows, configs, and standards.
  • Partner with security/engineering teams to drive GitHub Actions adoption and training.
  • Follow company policies on location, shifts, and flexible work models.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on with cloud & containers: AWS / Azure / GCP, Kubernetes.
  • Familiar with AI coding tools: GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or CodeWhisperer.
  • Strong in Python, JavaScript/Node.js; good grasp of Git/GitHub, CI/CD, and IaC.
  • Able to design effective prompts for generative AI models.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with GitHub Actions reusable workflows, OIDC, and secret management.
  • Observability basics (logs, metrics, traces) and cloud security fundamentals.
